Michelle Rand, President
“Buy cheap enough and risks diminish considerably.”
What do you like about working in the investment management business?
I like the fact that every day is different, and that is intellectually challenging. There is scope to see things differently and add value.
What part of your job do you like best and why?
That’s a toss up. I love meeting with clients, but I also like doing research, especially when I find something that I think will be profitable because it’s been overlooked.
What personal attributes make you good at your job?
I am slightly obsessive/compulsive! That makes me attendant to details and tenacious about research, following up with clients, whatever it takes to run the business.
What’s your favorite way to spend free time?
Riding horses or working on our vintage cars.
What investment decision has been most challenging for you in your career?
Attempting to invest new cash when the markets are overextended. It’s difficult to know whether to wait while the market marches upward, or not.
